Ultrasound scanning is the first line of investigation for many complaints. At Greenwich Medical Chambers we perform a number of different scans using the very latest ultrasound equipment. All scans are carried out by our experienced team of sonographers and consultant radiologists.

AnteNatalscans

Early viability scan: -
If you have pain or bleeding in early pregnancy and require reassurance that all is progressing normally, an early scan may be arranged for you.

At this scan we will be able to determine that the pregnancy is in the correct position within the uterus; assess the number of babies present; check the baby’s heartbeat and establish your delivery date.



12 Week Nuchal Scan for Downs Syndrome: -
We are the only private facility locally to offer this screening which is able to detect approximately  80% of babies affected by Downs Syndrome.



22 week Anomaly Scan: -
This involves a thorough examination of the baby’s anatomy and is performed to determine if there is any structural abnormality. Measurements are also taken to ensure that the baby is growing normally.

Growth Scans: -
These take place later in pregnancy to monitor the well being of your baby. Measurements are taken to determine the growth rate of your baby; the amount of fluid around your baby is assessed, as is the function of the placenta by Doppler ultrasound.

GYNAECOLOGY ULTRASOUND
Transvaginal ultrasound scans are performed by our female sonographer to investigate conditions such as pelvic pain, heavy periods and causes of infertility.

ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND SCANS
Upper and lower abdominal scans may be performed to investigate symptoms such as:

Abdominal pain, Urinary tract infections, prostate gland enlargement, gall stones and liver disease.

BREAST, THYROID AND TESTICULAR SCANS
Ultrasound scans are useful in the investigation of unexplained swellings and pain.
